4th Annual Black History Celebration.
On Friday, February 29, 2008 BSU continued its tradition of celebrating black history month with its
Annual Black History Celebration. This year the celebration took place in Sorum House. We decided to change things up a
bit this year and focus on the progression of blacks at Union. The exhibit and print edition we put together represents the
efforts of historic alums, presidents, student groups, professors, and individual students towards equal opportunity for people
within and outside of the Union community. Professor Melinda Lawson of the History Department dropped by the celebration
for a bit. And Professor Emeritus of Biology, Twitty Styles joined us with his wife. The students loved them! Print editions
of the exhibit were placed in the Minerva Houses around Union campus, to give students who could not attend an opportunity
to learn a little about Union's history. Overall the event was a success.... but this is just the beginning :-)
